Are you passionate about recycling? Are you keen to take a hands on approach to identifying opportunities to drive value creation and take these from idea to reality?

We are looking for an Assistant Sector Manager to join the dry mixed recycling (DMR) trading team in the North region. Reporting to the Senior Sector Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of commodities out of our facilities meets market demand, driving innovation and profitable growth and creating and developing a culture of ‘innovation & entrepreneurship’.

About the role

What will I be doing?

You will work closely with the other members of the dry mixed recycling (DMR) trading team, our colleagues at our production sites and other internal and external stakeholders in the DMR commodity value chain, contributing to ensuring our established end markets are well served with quality recyclates.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Value chain co-ordination to drive efficiencies at each step of the value chain and deliver profitable growth.
  • Engaging with all DMR processing sites in northern England and Scotland, ensuring that all produced grades meet market requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities for upgrading commodity grades produced by our facilities in line with changing demand in the market place.
  • Providing assistance to the sector managers in engaging with our customers.
  • You will be the primary trading contact for our production sites, leading on commercial meetings at relevant SUEZ facilities within your region.
  • You will take a very hands on approach in monitoring DMR commodities produced from our new contract in Manchester, ensuring stock levels are well under control and liaising weekly with key personnel at all Manchester transfer stations and the MRF.

What are the requirements?

You must be able to demonstrate understanding of commodities, trading, manufacturing and production models, with the ability to translate commercial agreements made by the sector managers, to the consumer, ensuring that materials produced are in line with these agreements.

  • Experience of working with value chain management and the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders is essential.
  • You will need to be a good administrator and comfortable with SUEZ systems as you will be required to assist and produce relevant reports for the DMR team to analyse results in your region.
  • You will require good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Full UK driving licence.

This role will involve extensive travel, predominantly in the North of the UK, but occasionally further South to attend Team meetings and industry events as required.
