About the role

About the role

The purpose of the role is to ensure all statutory and tax reporting is complied with, new accounting standards are adopted in a timely manner and be main point of contact for the audit process for UK entities.  Initial tax focus on CIS + IR35 projects.

What will I be doing?
Main Responsibilities:

  • Drive tax awareness across the UK business activities through communication & training sessions.
  • CIS contract and subcontractor assessment, overall CIS process lead.
  • Liaise with group tax teams ensuring the UK needs are addressed in global systems and processes.
  • Internal audit of compliance with tax processes.
  • Review + sign off VAT returns for the group.
  • Streamlining processes and implementing new tools e.g. Digital Tax.
  • Main point of contact for annual audits.
  • Ensure impact of new accounting standards are modelled and the group area ready for early adoption.
  • Compilation of data and preparation of statutory accounts for locally managed group companies (2 trading, 2 holding companies).
  • Support + oversight of centrally managed tax, stat + audit processes for up to 8 additional entities (2 trading + partnership).
  • Submission of all reporting by statutory / authority deadlines.
  • Balance sheet reviews with relevant finance team members.
  • Ownership of balance sheet accounts including tax, hire purchase (including IFRS16 leases) and fixed assets.
  • Collation of data for tax returns and submission to central tax team. Follow up of any queries and sign off of final tax returns.
  • Ownership of data held in group tools such as consolidation and IFRS16 lease tool.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required.

What are the requirements?

Qualifications required to do this role:

  • Educated to degree level (preferred)
  • Minimum 3 A Levels (essential)
  • Newly Qualified or Finalist Level ACA or ACCA

Experience required to do this role:

  • Minimum 3 years experience of financial accounting.
  • Previous experience preparing statutory accounts.
  • Previous experience of VAT and Tax submissions.
  • Technically able and up to date.

Skills required to do this role:

  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including Vlookup/pivot)
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Numerate and accurate.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good organisation and administrative skills.
  • The ability to prioritise and plan effectively.
  • The ability to work to deadlines.
