Summary of vacancy


A Team Leader positions has become available at Blackpool Transfer Station, the post requires the successful person to work to within an established team to develop operations with a focus on recycling.

The successful candidate will also be required to carry a wide range of duties including the operation of fixed and mobile plant machinery, weighbridge, administration and general site duties, and all aspects of SUEZ Business Systems. 


* Be confident in operating various plant and machinery with an understanding of defect reporting procedures, maintenance and operating in compliance with Safe Systems of Work

* Carry out instructions and pass on instructions from management and supervisors to maximise the full potential of the site and staff.

* Accurate recording of data from SUEZ and other software systems. 

* To ensure Health and Safety and Environmental compliance is achieved 

* Maintaining a tidy site, carrying out general cleaning and maintenance duties in accordance with 5’s

* Ensure the continual progression of all SUEZ Business Systems including continual Improvements, CSF’s and Organisational Clarity.

* Ensuring that within his/her areas of responsibility, SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees  and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions

o Computer literate and have basic numeracy skills 

o An excellent communicator with a good telephone manner

* Co-operating with SUEZ and with other employees in order to comply with site permit, all applicable legislation and SUEZ Policies and Procedures

* Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role.

This post is an ideal opportunity to assist in developing the site to meet the current aspiration of SUEZ, to work closely with customers to maximise the recycling recovery rates. 

The role is Monday to Friday a total of 40hrs per week with 30mins unpaid break for lunch  

A competitive hourly rate of £10:56 per hour is offered with this role with a salary of £21,964.80 per annum


The successful candidate will be required to have the following qualifications

* IOSH (Desirable)

* COCT in Treatment level 4 (Desirable)

Further training and development will be available 

Please note although mobile plant operator experience is preferred it is not essential as full training will be given, basic IT is essential and full training on specific programs  will also be given


We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to obtain a full working understanding of the site licence / permit and who will work to ensure site operations exceed the standards required. As the post requires a variety of tasks to be completed a flexible approach to work is required. The successful applicant will be required to undertake personal development to obtain skills for waste acceptance, maintenance of site equipment, infrastructure and operation of site machinery.   

Having good computer skills for the input and recording of data on SITA UK’s systems will also be advantageous.
